meet Mario volpe
A third-generation West Hartford resident, Mario Volpe’s roots run deep. Raised in the community that shaped him, Mario is a proud graduate of Webster Hill Elementary, Sedgwick Middle School, Conard High School, and the University of Connecticut. He knows firsthand that strong public schools are the foundation for opportunity and the key to helping every student reach their full potential.
Mario’s story is grounded in resilience. Raised by a single mother, he experienced the challenges working families face every day. His family made it through because of a community that showed up, teachers, coaches, neighbors, and mentors who stepped in when it mattered most. That support didn’t just shape his upbringing; it drives his commitment to give back and ensure others have the same chance to succeed.
Professionally, Mario brings the experience to deliver results on Day One. He has worked alongside some of Connecticut’s most effective leaders, from interning for U.S. Senator Chris Murphy to working at the State Capitol as a staffer for the Senate Democratic Caucus. There, he helped constituents navigate complex challenges and gained a deep understanding of how to turn ideas into legislative action. Today, he works as a policy advocate for a domestic violence prevention nonprofit, advancing legislation that protects survivors and strengthens communities.
He is a leader both in public service and in the community. Whether coaching football at Conard High School or mentoring young athletes on the basketball court, he is committed to investing in the next generation. He also serves as a Vice President of the Connecticut Young Democrats and as an elected officer in the West Hartford Democratic Party.
Mario is running for State Representative to bring both lived experience and policy expertise to Hartford. He understands the pressure families are facing from the growing affordability crisis. Mario will fight to make it easier for neighbors to stay in the communities they love by combating rising housing costs. He knows what it means to rely on community programs, and he’ll work to protect and strengthen them. And he believes no one should have to choose between healthcare and basic necessities.
Mario Volpe will be a strong, accessible voice for Avon and West Hartford, someone who listens, shows up, and delivers. Since the state government works best when every voice is heard, Mario is running to make sure yours always is.
